An Addictions Treatment Center offers various recovery programs. People need to select the most suitable treatment according to their situation. Going to a treatment center that does not fulfill your expectations or address your issues will probably be unsuccessful. The challenge lies in researching the programs available to find the suitable kind of treatment for yourself or for your loved one. This is not an impossible task. There are many ways to obtain information: internet, information hot lines, word of mouth and telephone directories. However it is important that you find a center that you are interested in; you must follow up with doing your homework on that facility. Ask questions, set up a tour, speak with past clients, look for online information about the programs.

Most Addiction Substance Abuse Treatment Centers offer two kinds of treatment; inpatient and outpatient treatment. It is important for people to get the professional assessment from the center they are interested in as to which program would be better suited for them or their loved one. This often is decided by the severity of the dependency, health issues, past history of treatment success or failures, and possible co-existing conditions.

Past history of sexual abuse, past or present domestic violence, pending legal issues, depression or suicide attempts, chronic pain all play a monumental part on whether inpatient or outpatient will be more appropriate.Suppose an addicted person is in the chronic stages of addiction, then it is important that they are provided with the inpatient treatment program. This is because the addicted people who are severely addicted need to be monitored constantly and this would be possible only if they are in the inpatient treatment centers for a period of time. The inpatient mode of treatment can last from one month to one year.

In the Inpatient program at an Addictions Treatment Center, the addiced persont is offered the safety of constant supervision. They are provided a relaxed environment, so that they may focus on the healing process. In these treatment facilities, there is a schedule of daily recovery oriented meetings, groups and individual sessions as well as education about and a medical staff and psychiatrists

On the other hand, those who are not severely addicted and those who have undergone prior treatment for addiction, can opt for an outpatient mode of treatment. In this treatment facility, the patients are usually required to attend certain groups and individual sessions that are arranged between the client and the program. Outpatient is often the better choice for someone who is employed or has small children that they are the primary caretaker of.  The main aim of this outpatient program is to prevent relapse among the individuals.
